What you are paying extra for

Sea day programming

Among the better mainstream offerings. Guest lecturers, destination talks, wine and food programs, and a music schedule that runs to several venues. It is not Viking’s level of enrichment, but it is well ahead of Royal Caribbean or Carnival.

Children on a Celebrity crossing

Celebrity is not adults only, but crossings attract very few children because they fall outside school vacations. In practice most Celebrity transatlantic sailings feel adult without being formally restricted, which is what many passengers are actually looking for.

What it costs

Upper-mainstream. Expect to pay meaningfully more per night than Carnival or MSC, and somewhat less than the premium lines. The gap narrows when you account for what is included: Celebrity frequently bundles drinks, Wi-Fi and gratuities into promotional fares, and on a fourteen-night voyage those bundles are worth real money.

Always compare the all-in figure. A Celebrity fare with drinks and tips included often beats a cheaper fare with both added separately.
