Disney Repositioning Cruises: What Disney Actually Offers

Disney repositioning cruises exist, but there are few of them, they are not cheap and the best ones sell out on the day they open. For 2026 and 2027 they fall into three groups: Disney Wish’s first transatlantic crossings, to Europe in April 2027 and back to New York in September; Disney Magic’s 14-night Panama Canal voyages between San Diego and Galveston; and short four-night runs along the Pacific coast between San Diego and Vancouver on Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

They are a way to get more days on a Disney ship at a lower nightly rate than a peak-season Disney cruise. They are not a way to cruise cheaply. A Disney crossing usually costs about twice the per-night fare of a mainstream line on the same ocean, and Disney discounts far less, even on a voyage the ship has to make anyway.

Every Disney repositioning sailing in our data

Of the 517 upcoming sailings in our repositioning cruise finder, 10 are Disney’s, checked on Disney’s own website in late September 2026. Sailings that have sold out drop out of the line’s search, so one well-publicized crossing appears here from Disney’s planning site instead.

Two things stand out. Disney’s repositioning is mostly short or coastal: five of the ten sailings in our data run five nights or fewer. And the long voyages are concentrated on two ships, Disney Magic on the canal and Disney Wish on the Atlantic.

Transatlantic: Disney Wish goes to Europe in 2027

Earlier Disney crossings were mostly made by the older, smaller ships. In 2027 that changes. Disney Wish, which entered service in 2022 and has sailed from Port Canaveral ever since, spends the summer of 2027 in Europe. It leaves Port Canaveral on April 25, 2027 on a 13-night eastbound crossing to Barcelona, calling at Funchal in Madeira, Gibraltar and Cartagena in Spain.

After a summer of Mediterranean and northern European sailings, including a six-night Barcelona to Southampton repositioning leg in July, it heads home. Disney’s planning team confirmed a 12-night westbound crossing from Southampton on September 17, 2027, with stops in Scotland, Iceland and Canada before New York, followed by a season of four- to seven-night sailings from New York. Travel reports said that westbound crossing sold out almost immediately once booking opened in September 2026. On October 31, 2027, Disney Wish sails a five-night repositioning from New York to San Juan via Bermuda.

Panama Canal: Disney Magic between San Diego and Galveston

Disney Magic is the line’s canal ship. It sails 14 nights from San Diego to Galveston in November 2026, back from Galveston to San Diego in April 2027, and San Diego to Galveston again in November 2027. The route calls at Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico and Cartagena in Colombia, with the canal transit in between, and the November 2027 voyage adds Fuerte Amador at Panama City.

These are among the longest Disney voyages on sale and the easiest Disney repositioning sailings to book, because they come round twice a year. They also suit Texans and Californians, since both ends are home ports with easy flights or a drive. Pacific coast: four nights between San Diego and Vancouver

Disney Magic and Disney Wonder both spend the summer of 2027 in Alaska, sailing from Vancouver. Disney Wonder comes up from San Diego; Disney Magic first comes back from Galveston through the canal, then continues north. That gives four short one-way sailings: San Diego to Vancouver in early May 2027 and Vancouver to San Diego in mid-September, on each ship.

At four nights, these are the cheapest way to try a Disney repositioning cruise and a good test of whether your family likes sea days. What a Disney sea day is like

Disney’s product works better with more sea days, not fewer. The stage shows are the main event, and a 13-night crossing has room for the full repertoire. Rotational dining, which moves your table and servers through the ship’s themed restaurants on a set rotation, has time to settle in. Deck parties, character appearances, films and the youth clubs fill the days for families.

Adults have their own spaces. Every Disney ship has an adults-only pool area, a quiet café and a cluster of adults-only bars and lounges, and on a long crossing those are where most adults without children spend their afternoons. The long crossings fall in late April and mid-September, during the US school year, so there are usually fewer children than on a summer or holiday sailing, though this is still a Disney ship.

The North Atlantic in September can be lively, and the westbound crossing takes the northern route via Iceland. Disney Wish is a large modern ship, which helps, but passengers prone to motion sickness should plan ahead.

What a Disney repositioning cruise costs

Disney fares are high and move little. In fall 2026, booking sites listed the 13-night Disney Wish crossing from about $2,550 per person for an inside stateroom, close to $200 a night. Verandah and Concierge staterooms cost far more, and the cheapest categories go first.

The gratuity figures are Disney’s current recommended amounts, according to Disney’s planning panel. On a 13-night crossing, $16 a night adds $208 per guest, including children.

What is included narrows the gap a little. Soft drinks from the beverage stations, the stage shows and the youth clubs cost nothing extra, and those clubs are extensive. A family that would otherwise pay for kids’ programs on another line gets more back than two adults do. For a couple, a Disney crossing at its lowest price still costs more per night than a Princess or Celebrity crossing at its normal rate.

Which Disney repositioning cruise to choose

For families who travel with preschoolers or can take children out of school, the canal voyages are the easiest fit: they fall in early November and late April, outside the summer and holiday peaks, and neither end needs an international flight. For couples who simply want a long Disney voyage, the April crossing to Barcelona gives the most sea days.

How to book one before it sells out

Disney opens new itineraries to Castaway Club members first, in phases by membership level, and to the public about a week later. For the fall 2027 schedule, which included the Wish’s westbound crossing, member booking began August 31, 2026 and public booking opened September 8, 2026, according to Disney’s planning team. If you want a specific crossing, be ready on the first day.

If you miss it, check again around the final payment deadline, when some families cancel and inventory reappears. And if the appeal is the crossing rather than the brand, the canal voyages on Disney Magic and the four-night Pacific coast runs are far easier to get and still give you sea days on a Disney ship.
